Housing and Planning

Statement from Mayor of Bristol on Joint Spatial Plan

Marvin Rees, Mayor of Bristol, has responded to a letter by inspectors examining the West of England Joint Spatial Plan.

He said: “The response from the planning inspectors on the Joint Spatial Plan (JSP) means we will need to review and progress in a way that takes account of their advice. However, in Bristol we remain on course to deliver on our ambitious goal of building 2,000 homes per year, of which 800 affordable. This includes exciting developments in Temple Quarter and Frome Gateway, Bedminster and Western Harbour amongst others. All of these developments will bring people and families to our city centre and deliver sustainable and much-needed homes for so many people and their families. We will press on and deliver on our promise to the city to build homes and tackle the growing housing crisis.”
