OPERATIONAL NOTE: Redcliffe Bridge closed for testing, Sunday 13 January 2019

Redcliffe Bridge, on Redcliffe Way, will be closed for testing on Sunday 13 January between 6am and 6pm.

The closure is necessary to test, observe and monitor the performance of the electrical and mechanical components which enable the bridge to lift. Specialist engineers will provide the council with more detailed information to inform the design and specification of the refurbishment works.

Once the testing is complete, the engineers will adjust the bridge supports as an interim measure to reduce the noise caused by bouncing of the bridge deck.

The planned refurbishment of the bridge is scheduled for 2019 - 2021 and forms part of a larger programme of restoration for Redcliffe Bridge, the Chocolate Footpath and historic railway.
