Operational note – Armed Forces flag raising today

When: Monday 20 June, 10.30am

Where: College Green, Bristol, BS1 5TR

Who: Mary Prior, Lord Lieutenant, Cllr Jeff Lovell, Bristol's Lord Mayor, and Alison Comley, Strategic Director of Neighbourhoods for Bristol City Council.

This morning, the Lord Lieutenant and the Lord Mayor will take part in a ceremony to raise the Armed Forces flag.

The ceremony will take place on College Green and members of the public are welcome to attend.

The flag will be raised to show the city’s gratitude and respect for the work of its Armed Forces both past and present.

Cllr Jeff Lovell, Bristol’s Lord Mayor said: “I am honoured to be taking part in this flag raising today.  As a community and a nation we owe so much to our Armed Forces.  Service men and women throughout the ages have made some great sacrifices on our behalf and I hope that this flag will go some small way to showing our gratitude and respect.  I would like to personally thank everyone involved and all members of our local Armed Forces who continue to give so much to keeping us safe.”
