Responding to the suspected terrorist attack on the London Underground, Marvin Rees, Mayor of Bristol, said: “As the details of today’s explosion on the London Underground emerge I want to let those affected and the people of London know that Bristol stands with you in solidarity against such cowardly acts of terror. I have offered Mayor Sadiq Khan my personal condolences and our support during the coming days and weeks. I also echo his praise for the fantastic response of the emergency services which should remind us all of the incredible work of those men and women who stand on the front line day in day out.
“It is important that our response to this attack be calm and peaceful. We must all remain vigilant but not afraid. If anyone has any concerns about security I would ask them to report these to the police or the UK’s anti-terrorist hotline on 0800 789 321.”
